LetSignal (Pty) Ltd Website: https://letsignal.co.za

Effective Date: 14 April 2026 Last Updated: 16 April 2026

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how LetSignal (Pty) Ltd ("LetSignal", "we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website at https://letsignal.co.za. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA") and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 ("ECTA"), we are required to inform you about the cookies we use and to obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites function properly, improve user experience, and provide information to website operators.

3. Types of Cookies We Use

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the operation of our website and platform. They enable core functionality such as security, session management, and access to secure areas. These cookies do not require your consent as the website cannot function properly without them.

Cookie Purpose Duration
sb-*-auth-token (Supabase) Maintains your authenticated session on the landlord dashboard Up to 30 days, refreshed on activity
letsignal_resume_token Lets applicants resume an in-progress rental application from the same browser or via an emailed resume link 30 days

3.2 Functional Cookies

We do not currently set functional cookies. In-progress application form data is kept in your browser's local storage (see Section 6) rather than a cookie, and can be cleared at any time through your browser's site-data controls without affecting the rest of our service.

3.3 Analytics Cookies

We use two analytics tools on our marketing website.

Vercel Web Analytics is cookieless - it records aggregate, anonymised page-view metrics using a short-lived hashed identifier derived from IP address and user agent, and does not place any cookies on your device. See Vercel's privacy documentation at https://vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy for details.

Google Analytics (GA4). We use GA4 to understand how visitors find and use the site. GA4 anonymises IP addresses by default, and we do not pass personally identifiable information (names, emails, phone numbers, ID numbers) to GA4. GA4 sets _ga and _ga_* cookies on the website to distinguish unique visitors and sessions; we do not use GA4 for cross-site tracking or advertising remarketing. You can opt out by enabling Do Not Track in your browser, by using a tool like the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), or by blocking the googletagmanager.com domain in an ad blocker.

A formal cookie consent banner is on the roadmap and will replace the current notice-only model before paid traffic launches.

3.4 Marketing Cookies

We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy and obtain your consent before placing any marketing cookies on your device.

4. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on our website may be placed by third-party services. We do not control these third-party cookies; the relevant third parties' privacy and cookie policies govern their use. At present, the only third-party service referenced in this policy is Vercel Analytics, which is cookieless (see Section 3.3). No third-party analytics or advertising service currently places cookies on your device.

5. Your Cookie Choices

You can control cookies through your browser settings. You can typically find these in the "Options", "Settings", or "Preferences" menu of your browser. The following links provide guidance for common browsers:

Please note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of our website and platform.

6. Similar Technologies

In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies such as:

  • Local storage: Used to store data locally on your device for performance and functionality purposes, such as saving application form progress.
  • Pixel tags / web beacons: Small graphic images used in emails to track whether content has been accessed.

These technologies are subject to the same consent requirements as cookies.

7. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
